No Ordinary Society is an inclusive society celebrating the uniqueness and individuality of the St Mary’s student population. The society aims to promote an awareness of disability, challenge stereotypes and stigma, and improve the wellbeing of all students. Some students may find it difficult to access or engage in some societies at the University. No Ordinary Society also organises inclusive weekly activities such as sitting volleyball, cooking classes, art classes, mindfulness sessions, charity fundraising, quiz nights and movie screenings, etc. We also run No Ordinary Sport as part of Simms Active programme in collaboration with Sport St. Mary’s. The society welcomes all students at any time during the academic year.
The days and times that we meet change each week depending on the activity arranged. This way it means more people can access and attend the sessions rather than preventing people attending because they have a regular lecture or work shift on a given day and time. Information about each activity will be emailed to members of the society in advance with detailed information about day, time, venue and breakdown of time schedules to help reduce any possible anxiety.
