Advent Advocacy are here to support you. They work on your behalf to support you and act as your advocates if there’s anything that you need help with. They often deal with Mental Health, Meetings, Finances, Academic Matters, Social/Cultural Matters, and Complaints, but if you have something that isn’t on this list then please reach out to them!
Below are a few examples of how they’ve helped students in the past:
- They have supported numerous students before, during and after academic misconduct meetings
- They have attended students’ community mental health recovery meetings and spoken for students at these when it was necessary to if students didn’t want to
- They’ve supported students by writing complaint letters to the council about their housing – and they’ve signposted students to Civil Legal Advice when this was necessary
Advent Advocacy are independent from the University, so anything that you tell them is obviously entirely confidential – and it’s very likely that they’ll have helped previous students who were in the same position as you as they’re hugely experienced.
Your Student Advocates are Noely and Hannah. Noely visits on a Tuesday and Hannah visits on a Wednesday. You can find them in K11 (the Students' Union Office). Best of all, the service is entirely free of charge. So don’t hesitate to go and see them!
