Your Student Life President's semester 1 update!
Hi Everyone! I hope you’ve all had a wonderful first semester, and are now back into the swing of things in Semester 2!
The last few months have been super busy at SMSU.
Since my last update, we have collected over 900 responses to our surveys about The SU Bar, Simmie Safety, Welcome Fest, The Big Student Survey, LGBTQ+ Student Experiences and more! We have found your responses really interesting, and they will help us greatly to inform the University about student views, so thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the surveys!
Student Heart Phase 2 is coming along nicely and I can’t wait for you all to see how your views and our research have impacted the designs!
One of my manifesto points was to continue raising funds for charity this year, and I am delighted to say that we have raised nearly £18,000 already! Sports clubs have raised £13,312 for various charities, and societies have raised £1,666! A massive well done to everyone who has organised, participated in, or donated to a fundraiser this year!
Since the start of the year, 20 new societies have affiliated with SMSU and have been running some fantastic activities, and we cannot wait to see what they get up to in the rest of the year!
