Dave S.P Thomas is an Occupational Therapist and Public Health Specialist, with a remit in social justice - you can read more about him here. He has published lots of research in the areas or ‘race’, racial justice, inequality, Occupational Justice and Social Justice. He’s coming specifically to St Mary's via Zoom for one of our St Mary's Values Talks from 2pm - 4pm Tuesday 17 November to discuss the below questions with you. This is a workshop rather than a talk, so interaction will be encouraged.

  • To what extent does the ‘Whiteness’ of the curriculum create an apartheid of knowledge, promote feelings of (un)belonging, compromises attainment and negatively impact on racially minoritised staff and students’ health and wellbeing?
  • How can we use our generosity of spirit to develop collaborative conversations and sustainable strategies to understand and interrupt systemic racism in higher education?

You can click here to sign up for the meeting. We're looking forward to seeing you there!
