Simmies Big Brother 2018 kicked off our RAG fund raising in style raising an astounding £1095.76 for Cancer Research UK, StreetInvest, Plan International UK and Rethink Mental Illness. Thank you so much for all your donations! Here’s the story of Big Brother 2018 - it all started on Monday night...

8pm – Our unsuspecting housemates enter their home for the next 24 hours. There’s a palpable sense of apprehension and excitement. Big Brother gives them their first task – to learn 3 facts about each other. Our housemates tackle their first task with enthusiasm, keen to make a good impression. Big Brother tells them it was all a ruse, a pointless exercise. They start to realise that Big Brother is evil.

9pm – It’s time for silent hour. This is clearly a difficult task for some of our housemates. Adam is sent to the chair of shame to think about his behaviour. However, ingenuity overcomes adversity and they use Jenga blocks to communicate. It’s 1-1 to our housemates. Big Brother must up his game.

10pm – Time for the housemates to show their hidden talents. Each housemate is given a song to learn for open mic night. Hannah is clearly meant for stardom after her 7 minute rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody raises the roof as well as a few eyebrows.

11pm – More artistic pursuits with EastEnders colouring in. Some show promise – others struggle to stay within the lines.

12am – It’s petting zoo time! What’s this you ask? Animals…in the SU...in the middle of the night?!! Unfortunately not. Our housemates are presented with a willing SU staff member in a waterproof tiger outfit. It’s an uncomfortable affair for all involved.

1am (Tuesday) - Time for sleep. Or is it? Evil Big Brother has other ideas. First, our housemates are woken up with a 20 minute blast of this. For the next few tortuous hours the housemates are given secret tasks designed to crack their spirits and turn them against each other. It’s chilling stuff. A radio is hidden in the DJ booth where Big Brother whispers subliminal messages throughout the night, tormenting our poor housemates further.

3.30am (Tuesday) – Finally they are allowed to sleep. All this evil bidding makes Big Brother tired.

8am (Tuesday) – Time for our first eviction – Mal. He battled hard, but now it’s time to go. Bye Mal!

11.30am (Tuesday) – Next up for eviction is Charles, followed by Jamie at 1.30pm. It was a great run guys!

3pm (Tuesday) - The lovely Milly is the next to go – with a fabulous £91.11 raised for RAG she leaves with her head held high!

4pm (Tuesday) – A moment of drama as Adam threatens to leave the house. Things are getting tense…

6pm (Tuesday) – Adam is next to go. Big Brother forgives Adam for his earlier hissy fit as he has raised a fabulous £148.55. Well done Adam!?

7pm – Becks is out next. She managed to persuade her follow Simmies to part with £152.15 – a tremendous effort!

8pm – 24 hours later we’re at crunch time, down to the last two, it’s a real nailbiter. Who will be crowned the Simmie Big Brother winner of 2018? It’s… Nathan! A phenomenal effort from runner up Becks who raised an enormous £203.63, but Nathan steals the show with a whopping £473.45.

We’d like to say a massive thankyou to everyone who took part and donated – we’re very proud of all of you.
