Our university has always celebrated the diversity of its student body, which includes a significant number of Hindu students. While we appreciate the various religious facilities available on campus for different faiths, we have noticed the absence of a space dedicated to Hindu spiritual practices. This lack has often left Hindu students struggling to find a suitable place for their religious observances, which are an integral part of their identity and well-being.

Objective: The primary goal of this petition is to establish a space where Hindu students can practice their faith, engage in spiritual activities, and find a sense of community. We believe that such a space would not only benefit Hindu students but also enhance the overall inclusivity and cultural diversity of our university.

Key Points:

  1. Promoting Inclusivity: By recognising the spiritual needs of Hindu students, the university can take a significant step towards inclusivity and equal representation of all faiths on campus.
  2. Supporting Student Well-being: A Hindu prayer space would provide a supportive environment for students to maintain their spiritual health, which is crucial for their overall well-being.
  3. Building Community: This space would also serve as a hub for Hindu students to gather, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
  4. Cultural Learning Opportunity: Additionally, it would offer a unique opportunity for students from all backgrounds to learn about and engage with Hindu traditions and practices.
