Kesha's Manifesto

1. Improving Student Wellbeing 

  • Ensuring LSPs are being clearly communicated to lecturers and are properly implemented
  • Introducing wellbeing support groups so that students can voice their opinions and changes regarding how to support their academic progress
  • Introducing anonymous feedback boxes for hall students (in the halls) and for commuter students (commuter lounge) so that students can articulate their concerns, identify the issues, and improve them, so students can focus on their academics
  • Ensuring that course reps in your courses are trained on wellbeing to support your wellbeing concerns
  • Introducing more regular wellbeing checks from staff for students to ensure that they are being supported throughout the academic year

2. Enhancing Academic Experience 

  • Working with faulties to ensure assignments are not clustered and are more dispersed
  • Introducing a peer mentor system in which 2nd/3rd years are supporting the first years to make them feel more welcome
  • Ensuring that feedback students provide to course reps from the Staff/Student Forum meeting is being fulfilled, and that lecturers are acting upon this feedback.
  • Coordinating with subject chairs to ensure that course rep feedback is being fulfilled, and ensuring lecturers are being held accountable for this
  • Having targeted workshops for commuters, mature students and student parents

3. Strengthen Accessible Teaching 

  • Personalised support is provided, especially for first-year and late-entry students.
  • Pushing for recorded versions of the lectures to be provided to students.
  • To ensure that students can get 2 ECs guaranteed without having to worry about their marks being reduced
  • Encourage and promote flexible attendance for students in circumstances making it difficult to attend university
  • To push for all lecture material to be released a week/a couple of days before the lecture happens

4. Expanding Subject Specific Learning 

  • Extending the Career fairs opportunities to be more subject/individual-based
  • Supporting and implementing subject-based societies so that students can interact with other students and build connection 
  • Introducing subject-specific employability workshops

5. Improving Student Opportunities 

  • Flexible learning for international students, ensuring that they are supported throughout the holidays
  • Ensuring the views of international and postgraduate students are raised regarding the university through specific feedback from focus groups/social events.
  • To push to bring back study abroad opportunities for home students
  • To work with faulties to encourage and push for more real-life opportunities in relation to certain career paths
