Shashwat Kamat

A Better Education Experience for All

Hey everyone, I’m Shashwat Kamat, and I want to be your next Education President!

Education should empower every student, and that’s exactly what I aim to do. With six years of experience in sports performance analysis and talent identification, I’ve worked as both a lecturer and a student leader, giving me a well-rounded perspective on education.

At 18, I became the youngest General Secretary (Student President) at a university in India, where I worked directly with faculty heads and chancellors to enhance student experiences. I know how to bring real change, and I’m ready to do the same for you. This leadership experience gives me a strong advantage, equipping me with the skills to drive meaningful change from day one.

My manifesto is designed to support all students home and international by focusing on better academic resources, expanded study abroad opportunities, and stronger career development pathways. I am committed to ensuring that every student has the tools, support, and opportunities needed to thrive.

Shashwat's manifesto:

1.More Funding for Educational Resources – Many international and postgraduate students struggle with limited access to essential academic tools. I will push for increased funding opportunities to ensure that all students, regardless of background, have the resources they need to succeed.

2. More Study Abroad Opportunities for Home Students – Gaining international exposure is invaluable, and every student should have the chance to experience education beyond borders. I will work to expand partnerships with universities worldwide, making semester exchanges and summer internships abroad a reality for more students. This means more funding, more options, and a stronger global network for YOU.

3. Better Access to Lecture Recordings & Study Materials – Learning shouldn’t stop when class ends. I will advocate for a system where lecture recordings are consistently uploaded on time and paired with additional study materials, so students can revisit topics whenever they need whether it’s for revision, catching up, or reinforcing key concepts.

4. Extracurriculars That Align With Your Degree – University life is about more than just academics. I want to create degree-specific extracurricular activities to give students hands-on experience in their fields, while also bringing in top guest lecturers from leading UK industries. This will bridge the gap between theory and practice, making your education more dynamic and career-focused.

5. Career Fairs Tailored to Your Industry – General job fairs don’t always offer relevant opportunities for every student. I will introduce school-specific career fairs, such as one for the School of Liberal Arts and Humanities and another for the School of Sport and Health. These fairs will feature industry panels and TED Talk-style speakers, giving students the chance to connect with employers and experts in their chosen fields.

I believe in an education system that not only supports students academically but also prepares them for real-world success. My experience as a lecturer, student leader, and advocate for better educational opportunities has given me the skills to make meaningful changes. From introducing school-specific job fairs to creating study abroad opportunities and bringing in inspiring guest speakers and TED Talks, my goal is to ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to thrive.

This is about more than just policies it’s about your future. I am committed to making education more engaging, inclusive, and beneficial for all students. If you want a leader who listens, takes action, and delivers results, vote for me as your next Education President. Together, we can make a real difference!
