I have been an active member within the simmies community for a few years, from a course representative to subject chair of education, welfare for both Gaelic football club and Women's football, as well as social media for Gaelic. I have a lot of experience in the way the Student Union is run and the experience side of St Mary's.
Daisy's manifesto
1. Bring together the St Mary's Community
Encourage students to attend sport matchdays, on campus and at Teddington Lock, by having a bar and cafe whereby students and spectators can purchase drinks and snacks to enjoy the day.
Promote opportunities for St Mary's students to get involved in matchdays e.g. working at the bar, photography.
2. Support for clubs and societies:
Help sports clubs and societies with their social media content through providing support with media days, matchday photos to make them look professional and promote the clubs and opportunities at St Mary's.
Society showcase to encourage all simmies to get involved within the university by promoting them through events and across campus.
Have a simmies for simmies Instagram page where all societies can share their successes and achievements.
More events like Hall Stars to ensure freshers can get involved and exposed to all societies.
3. Connect with the local community:
Connect St Mary's students with the local community by evaluating the discounts they offer, job opportunities that are local.
4. Skillful Simmies:
Weekly skills sessions from internal and external groups to develop skills like; public speaking, sewing, cocktail making ext.
5. Late night transport for students:
I would like to investigate safe and cost-effective options for late night transport for students. For example, getting back to campus from Pryzm midweek.
