Jatin Jatin

My vision as Student Life President is simple: to make student life at St Mary’s inclusive, vibrant, supportive, and genuinely shaped by students. University life is more than lectures and assessments — it’s about belonging, wellbeing, opportunities, and memories. I want every student to feel heard, involved, and proud to be part of our community.

Jatin's Manifesto

1. A Stronger Sense of Community

I will work to bring students together across courses, years, and cultures by:

  • Expanding inclusive social events that appeal to commuters, international students, postgraduates, and underrepresented groups
  • Supporting societies and sports clubs with better promotion, collaboration, and funding opportunities
  • Encouraging cross-society events to build stronger connections on campus

No student should feel isolated at St Mary’s.

2. Better Events & Social Life

I will collaborate closely with university departments to ensure:

  • A consistent, well-planned calendar of events throughout the academic year
  • Affordable and accessible events for all students
  • Improved Freshers’ and Welcome activities that support smooth social integration

Student feedback will directly shape the events we deliver.

3. Student Wellbeing & Support

Wellbeing is the foundation of a positive student experience. I will:

  • Champion mental health awareness and wellbeing campaigns
  • Work with accommodation teams and support services to improve campus living
  • Promote volunteering and community engagement as tools for confidence and purpose

I will ensure wellbeing is prioritised in all student life decisions.

4. Listening to Students & Acting on Feedback

I believe leadership starts with listening. I will:

  • Conduct regular surveys and consultations to understand what students want
  • Chair Student Life Council meetings transparently and effectively
  • Represent student voices at the highest level as Student Governor

Students won’t just be consulted — they’ll be involved in shaping solutions.

5. Transparency & Communication

As Student Life President, I will:

  • Keep students informed through regular updates, blogs, and social media
  • Be visible, approachable, and accountable
  • Clearly report progress on manifesto pledges

You deserve to know what your Students’ Union is doing for you.
