The Summer Ball is back and better than ever!
The festival vibe will float across campus with this multi-arena event from 3pm-3am.
Graduating students will be treated to an exclusive afternoon extravaganza complete with a welcome drink, BBQ and photobooth from 3-6pm!
Throughout the afternoon and evening, you’ll be treated to DJs, live bands, performers, a silent disco, ferris wheel and more.
The party will carry on throughout the evening, with fireworks after dark, and entertainments til midnight and beyond.
Current St Mary's students will be able to buy up to four tickets, one for themselves, and up to three for guests.
Alumni from the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 will also be able to buy a ticket and re-live their simmie experience.
Graduating students who do not wish to enjoy the afternoon VIP area can purchase a standard ticket instead.
This year, we've got a fantastic line-up in place, which include Stefan from 'The Midnight Beast', The Weathertop Preachers and Bungle's Finger and many more.
Our headliner for this year is... none other than X Factor winner Louisa Johsnson - famously known for her hits 'Tears' and 'So Good'.
Stay tuned as we'll be relasing more from our line-up very soon...
Can I bring a guest?
Every St Mary’s student can purchase up to three guests tickets. You can purchase your guests’ ticket through the SMSU website here from Monday 17th April 2023. Your guests’ names will be collected at the point of sale and you will be responsible for their behaviour while attending the event.
How do I pick up my wristband?
The ticket that will have been emailed to you when you bought your wristband online will not get you in to the Summer Ball. To get in, you need a wristband.
Tickets can be exchanged for wristbands between 10am and 4pm on 9th, 10th and 11th May in K11. They can also be exchanged on the night of the Summer Ball from K11 between 10am and 6pm. If you are picking your wristband up on the evening of the Ball, please bear in mind that queues could be up to 30-45 minutes long, so make sure you arrive as early as possible on the night.
You need a student ID to collect your wristband along with the ticket that will have been emailed to you when you ordered online. You don't need to print this out - showing it on your phone screen is fine. The ticket you show us must have your name on it.
I'm bringing a guest - can I pick up their wristband?
Guests can only pick up their wristbands in the presence of the person who bought their ticket - no loose wristbands will be given out. Guests will need valid ID (Passport or driving licence) to collect and will also need it to get into the event.
I'm Alumni - how do I collect my ticket?
Alumni can pick their wristbands on the 10/11/12th May in K11 between 10am and 4pm or in the evening from the day of the event from 10-6pm. You will need to supply us with your regnum to enable SMSU to validate your Alumni ticket.
Can I pick up a wristband for a friend?
No loose wristbands will be given out due to security and licensing reasons, so this won't be possible. Remember, unlike in previous years, we're open for wristband collection on the day of the ball until 6pm from the Students’ Union, so there'll be no need to do this anyway!
I can't attend, but have bought a ticket. Can I get a refund?
You won’t be able to get a refund but you can sell your ticket on. Please find our refund policy here. You can however sell your ticket on, just send the name and regnum of the person you've sold it to smsu@stmarys.ac.uk so that we can match it up with their student regnum – they won’t be able to exchange their ticket for a wristband if you don’t do this.
Can I bring my own alcohol?
You won’t be able to take any alcohol into the event. Bag checks will be in operation.
What does my ticket give me?
Your ticket gives you entry into the indoor area of the Ball, but it doesn’t guarantee entry to any given part due to space restrictions. You will need to get to venues early to guarantee entry as there is a limited amount of space for each venue, e.g. for headline acts. Please also bring along student ID and a valid identification (passport or valid driving license).
Will there be food stalls?
Whilst there will be a wide range of food stalls, we advise that you eat before you arrive as it’s a long event.
Can I park on campus?
Parking won’t be available on campus on the evening of Summer Ball.
