The St Mary’s Politics Society aims to bridge the gap between students and politics in a historically non-political university in an inclusive and diverse manner. The disconnect between youth and policy discourages political participation and inhibits growth in our generation. This society will work to find a solution to detachment by finding various way of creating political engagement.
We hope to connect with other single-issue societies at St Mary’s like the Pride society to encourage exploration and discussion surrounding relevant social issues. By inviting guest speakers to hold lectures and seminars, we will promote learning and discussion between members and non-members for the purpose of fostering political engagement within the university.
By participating in St Mary’s Politics Society, we hope that students have the opportunity for personal growth and discovery, and learn about local, national, and international issues they might have an interest in pursuing.
