Vic's Manifesto

Hi, my name is Vic Calvino and I’m running to be the next Education President. I studied Primary Education here at St. Marys and I’m now completing a Masters in Education, Culture and Society. I’m motivated to run for this role as throughout my time here at St. Marys I’ve felt that some policies weren’t created with students' best interests in mind and I want to change this. I believe that looking after students' mental health and well-being is a priority and education policies should reflect this. I care about all student having the right tools and opportunities to achieve and as Education President, my main aim will be to improve every student's academic experience, mainly through the following manifesto points:

  • Remove the 40% cap on resits permanently, continue the No Detriment policy and allow resit of lowest modules.
  • Significantly increase online access to library resources and lectures.
  • Include significant stress and workload as grounds for Extenuating Circumstances.
  • Continue working towards diversifying the curriculum and supporting all students.
  • Ensuring better criteria for feedback of final submissions and drafts is implemented, no more single-line comments.
  • Improve education-sport life balance by reducing Wednesday lectures to attend or play sports while not missing lectures.

Ultimately I want to make sure that next year makes up for this year by ensuring that policies are made with your best interest in mind, allowing you to enjoy your university experience.

Vote Vic for your next Education President.
