Tayla's Manifesto

Hello, I am Tayla! I’m a 3rd year Sports Rehabilitation student and current Cheerleading President. I would love to listen and represent the student voice as your Sports President, I’d be ideal for the role as I have been heavily involved in sport throughout my 3 years at the university; competing, supporting and attending events.

Below are some of my goals I’d love to achieve:

  • Introduce a sports day event within the university where sports teams can participate in a different sport than their own and compete in a light-hearted fashion, reward for the team on top!
  • Increase club collaboration through charity events and mixed socials, due to COVID returning to sport is going to thrive off of working together and the support of committees working collaboratively.
  • Develop a cost-efficient way of sports clubs receiving a higher percentage of the fees e.g., early organisation of travel for away games.
  • Help clubs to secure sponsorships by including marketing training.
  • Promotion of recreational events during ‘Welcome freshers’ e.g., Hall Stars and Simmsactive events. Helping clubs that organise and deliver the events to gain club accreditation and recruitment opportunities.
  • Continue supporting campaigns such as 'Simmies Girls Can' as well as other underrepresented populations in sport as well as increasing the awareness of well-being services for athletes.
  • Sports results and timetabling app – students can track what games are on and whereabouts. Features of the app could include livestreaming away games, league tables and social sport events.
