Jason was a member of the Officer Team here at SMSU in 2008, and was the very person to start our historical Varsity event against Brunel! Having studied PE & Education Studies (BA) he then went on to gain an MA in Pedagogy, Professional Practice in Education (MA) and a PhD in Sociology of Education. Jason has even run 30 marathons in 35 days and raised £4.5 million for over 80 national charities including local charity shooting star chase. He's now an Assistant Professor in Sociology at Durham University working in the research area of race and education and he’s working towards becoming a Professor. He recently appeared on BBC Radio 'Moral Maze' and the Guardian.
Jason will speak to you about his journey and the hurdles he has faced along the way. You will leave this talk feeling inspired about your own journey at St Mary's. This event is one of the first ever St Mary's values talks - keep your eye out for more of them in future.
